Havaalanları Yer Hizmetleri A.Ş. (HAVAS), The first Ground Handling Services Company of Turkey, was established by the State in 1933 to provide ground handling services and catering services. In 1987, Catering service of the company was separated and privatized under the name of USAS, and the ground handling services continued its operations under the name of Ground Handling C.O.

During the privatization scope, Havas’s shares were purchased by Ciner Group in April 1995. Later, Swissport acquired 40% shares of Havas and became its shareholder and this partnership of Ciner Group, 60%, and Swiss port 40% continued until July 2005. The interests of foreign investors to Havas, one of the major companies of Turkey, had continued. In July 2005, TAV Airports Holding, the leader of Turkish Civil Aviation, who constructs and operates many airport terminals, bought Ciner Group’s Havas shares (60%) and Havas became a TAV-Swissport partnership. Developments in the share structure of Havas is not limited with those; right after the new structuring, Swissport transferred the shares he own to Ciner Group and again Havas became a TAV-Ciner Group partnership.
