Havaş, Turkey’s well-established ground handling services company, started “Accessible Messaging” project for answering the requests of passengers with hearing and speech handicaps to access remote and direct information. The passengers to travel with the “Accessible Messaging” service can ask everything they want to learn about Havaş ground handling service via a SMS message and they get their replies following the assortment of their questions in processing centers.

Speaking on the service, Havaş General Manager Nurzat Erkal said, “Disabled people make up 12.29 percent of the population in Turkey, according to the latest research done by the Administration for Disabled People. A significant proportion of this figure consists of people with orthopedic, visual, hearing and speech handicaps. The research puts it out that 68% of the disabled people live in an environment which has no specific arrangement for their handicaps. Motivated by this fact, we are trying to make the journeys of our passengers the most comfortable. We will be sending feedback to our disabled passengers who will send us an SMS via the “Accessible Messaging” service in accordance with the ISO 10002:2004 standard. We will continue to act along with our motto of “Our Priority, Your Satisfaction”.

With the “Accessible Messaging” service, Havaş is aiming to contribute to the travel standards of the disabled passengers. Driven by the fact that mobile phones are the most important tools in easing the lives of the individuals with hearing and speech handicaps, the “Free Messaging” project provides the disabled passengers with the chance of sharing their complaints and suggestions via a message and even organizing their travels. To benefit from this service, disabled citizens are required to use the “Accessible Messaging” platform tariff of “Türk Telekom”.
